Liam Payne 911 Caller Said One Direction Star’s Life Could Be in Danger Minutes Before Death

Liam Payne’s Tragic Fall in Buenos Aires: A Detailed Account

A distress call for immediate intervention was made by a hotel employee just before musician Liam Payne tragically fell from the third story of a building in Buenos Aires on Wednesday. The 31-year-old British artist, previously part of the popular boy band One Direction, passed away after he reportedly “jumped from the balcony of his room,” according to Pablo Policicchio, Communications Director for Buenos Aires Security Ministry, as relayed to the Associated Press. The authorities were alerted at the Casa Sur Hotel, situated in Argentina’s capital, when an urgent call was made shortly after 5 p.m. local time regarding “an aggressive man possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”

911 Call Response and Events Leading to the Incident

The BBC shared details of a 911 call where a hotel worker can be heard telling the emergency operator, “We have a guest who is high on drugs and causing damage to the room, so we need assistance.” The emergency operator seeks clarification on whether the guest is exhibiting aggression and asks to confirm the hotel’s name. However, the call gets cut off before receiving a definitive response.

During a subsequent call, the hotel staff member reiterates the urgency of the situation and raises alarms about the guest’s safety. He expresses concern stating, “There’s a guest who has overindulged in drugs and alcohol, and when conscious, is destroying the room. We urgently need assistance.” When prompted to revisit the hotel’s identification, the employee reaffirms the name and conveys the potential danger to the guest’s life, highlighting that the individual is in a balcony room, which adds to their anxiety about the situation.

Identification and Assistance Request

The caller introduces himself as Esteban, the lead receptionist at the hotel, and questions whether authorities would send the police or solely rely on the emergency medical service (SAME). He shows a preference for “just the SAME” to be dispatched.

The operator points out, “You mentioned that [the guest] is under the sway of drugs and alcohol, and SAME typically does not respond alone,” leading to the conclusion of the conversation thereafter.

Immediate Aftermath and Findings

Post-incident, as reported by Argentina’s La Nacion, Alberto Crescenti, the SAME’s head, mentioned that Payne was discovered at the hotel suffering from “life-threatening injuries.” He detailed that Payne fell from an elevation of “almost 14 meters” or 46 feet, emphasizing the “impossibility of resuscitation.” The artist was officially pronounced dead on site. The report points out that approximately six minutes transpired between the 911 call and Liam Payne’s demise.
