Yvette Nicole Brown and Anthony Davis Celebrate Marriage with Elegant Ceremony
Yvette Nicole Brown and actor Anthony Davis exchanged vows on December 14th in an event described as “intimate, classy, and fun” in Los Angeles. Their journey to love began with a friendship in their twenties, followed by years of lost contact before reuniting in 2021. The bride, at 53, hopes her story inspires others, emphasizing that “it’s never too late” to find love.
A Day to Remember
The celebrated “Community” actress and Davis tied the knot with 200 guests in attendance at The Maybourne Beverly Hills. Brown shared with PEOPLE her certainty about the marriage, stating she had “no hesitations” when it came to saying “I do.” She expressed, “I had no nerves when it came to marrying this man. He is the one for me. Absolutely.”
Emotional moments marked the day, particularly as Brown walked down the aisle with her brother Paris, who stepped in for her father who is battling Alzheimer’s disease. Brown explained the absence of their parents, noting that Davis’ parents have also passed away. “My brother and his sister stood in,” Brown said, adding that it felt special to be surrounded by family, even if it wasn’t the exact family roles they wished for.
Bringing Families and Friends Together
Brown expressed excitement about the gathering of both families and friends for the first time. “The melding of these families is what I’m super, super excited about,” she remarked. She proceeded down the aisle to the violin music of Alan Price, carrying blush-toned flowers from Eddie Zaratsian and Tic-Tock Couture Florals.
Her bridal look was completed with a hairstyle by Gabrielle Corney, adorned with a Maria Elena headpiece, and makeup by Beth Carter using Danessa Myricks Beauty products with Ardell lashes, assisted by Markeisha Similton.
A Dress with a Special Meaning
Interestingly, Brown’s first experience in a wedding dress was for a character, Helen Dubois, in Nickelodeon’s “Drake & Josh.” Reflecting on that moment, she said, “I cried when I saw myself in the wedding dress… I was crying because I thought this may be the only time I’m in a wedding dress.” Years later, finding herself in a real bridal moment was something she found amazing.
For the ceremony, the actress chose a mermaid-style gown by Ines Di Santo. During a fitting at Lovella Bridal in Glendale, California, Brown and her bridal coordinator Nayri Kalayjian discovered the dress by chance. She requested customization with two butterflies to honor her and Davis’ mothers. “It was meant to be,” Brown stated.
Anthony Davis: Finding His Other Wing
Anthony Davis, dressed in a custom brown suit from Vinny’s Custom Clothes, wore cufflinks with a handwritten message from Brown. Describing their relationship, Davis likened it to finding his missing wing, allowing him to “fly straight and land where I need to land.”
While Davis is eloquent with his words, Brown admitted feeling shy about publicly expressing her love. Despite her acting experience, the reality of expressing genuine emotions in front of friends and family was daunting. “I was nervous,” she admitted about the celebration officiated by Love McPherson and produced by William P. Miller.
An Evening of Celebration
The evening unfolded with a cocktail hour featuring signature drinks, followed by a dinner of sea bass and short rib, accompanied by harpist Mariea Antoinette’s music. Guests enjoyed a four-tiered dessert by Cake Studio LA, featuring lemon fantasy and strawberry shortcake adorned with fresh florals.
DJ Kacy “Mister Wilson” Wilson provided music for dancing and a 360-degree photo booth added a playful element to the reception.
Rekindling a Connection
The couple’s journey took a significant turn in 2021 when Davis reached out to Brown following her mother’s passing, which she discussed during an appearance on “The View.” She shared Davis’ proposal story, which cleverly involved a lottery scratch card asking, “Will you marry me?” Brown humorously recalled thinking she won the lottery, only to find she’d won a husband.
This marks Davis’ second marriage and Brown’s first. Looking ahead, Brown hopes for future professional collaborations with her husband and is eager to embrace their future together. “I want to be with this man for 30 years,” she expressed, highlighting her excitement about being Mrs. Davis.
A Message to Many
Brown’s late-in-life engagement and marriage offer a message of hope. “It’s never too late,” she said, hoping her wedding serves as an inspirational moment for others. She emphasized the importance of patience and not settling in relationships, advising single women to wait for peace and absence of chaos in their relationships.
Brown’s experience with Davis stood out due to its clarity and lack of confusion, a stark contrast to past relationships. “There were no questions. There was no confusion,” she noted. Davis’ straightforwardness and reliability were qualities she found comforting and reassuring.
Brown concluded with a reminder, “Wait until there’s no chaos and confusion,” for those seeking love. Her reflections and the couple’s wedding were exclusively shared through collaborations between PEOPLE and BRIDES, capturing every special moment.
