Vance says ‘no’ Trump didn’t lose the 2020 election

Vance’s Stance on the 2020 Presidential Election

In a candid moment during the current election cycle, GOP vice presidential candidate Senator JD Vance openly expressed his view on the 2020 presidential election. Vance, when approached by a reporter, stated that he does not concur with the assertion that former President Donald Trump was defeated in the 2020 election. His response came in reply to the question, “What message do you think it sends to Independent voters when you do not directly answer the question, ‘Did Donald Trump lose in 2020?'”

“Regarding the 2020 election, I have responded to this inquiry directly countless times. No, I believe that there were significant issues in 2020, so did Donald Trump lose the election? Not in terminology I would employ,” Vance stated firmly. “But honestly, I couldn’t care less if you agree or disagree with me on this matter.”

An old clip from Spectrum News 1, dating back to 2022, recently gained attention. In the video, when asked if he believed the 2020 election was stolen, Vance replied affirmatively, “Yeah, I do.” In the 2020 election, President Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump by over 7 million votes. Vance’s answer comes after a series of inquiries from journalists questioning whether he believed Trump actually lost the 2020 election.

Endorsement of Trump’s Claims

On a recent Sunday interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz on the show “This Week,” Vance continued to evade giving a direct answer when pressed on whether Trump lost in 2020. “Martha, you’ve asked this question. I’ve been questioned about this 10 times over the past couple of weeks. Of course, Donald Trump and I hold the view that there were issues in 2020,” Vance asserted.

When Raddatz pushed further, Vance reiterated, “I’ve repeatedly stated I think the 2020 election had problems. Whether you want to say rigged or that he won, use any descriptive term you prefer.”

Concerns Over Election Misinformation

At a campaign gathering in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, ABC News inquired of the Ohio senator whether he was worried about the potential impact of election misinformation in the current election cycle. Vance acknowledged this concern, articulating, “I encounter individuals occasionally who express doubts due to perceived widespread problems. They distrust the ballot counters and thus decide not to vote. But that is the entirely wrong attitude to adopt.”

In an effort to reassure those with election concerns, Vance emphasized that the individuals overseeing the polls on election day are members of the same community. “An important point that often goes unnoticed is that if you are a local voter in an area like Williamsport, the people counting your ballots are frequently your neighbors. It’s particularly relevant in local elections, and especially in smaller rural settings, where your neighbors are handling these ballots.”

In Concise Terms: “Trump did not lose the 2020 election,” Vance succinctly stated, reinforcing his stance amidst a backdrop of ongoing national debate over election integrity.
